Cuisinart recommends using heat setting #3 for golden brown waffles, but if you prefer crisper, darker waffles, you can increase the browning control to setting #4 or 5. To ensure evenly filled waffles, pour the batter onto the center of the lower grid and close the cover, using 1/2 cup of batter per waffle.
Waffles are best when made to order, but baked waffles can be kept warm in a 200°F oven, either placed in a baking pan or wrapped in foil. Waffles wrapped in foil may lose their crispiness, but baked waffles can also be frozen. Allow them to cool completely, then place them in a plastic food storage bag, separating them with waxed paper. Reheat the frozen waffles in a toaster or toaster oven when ready to use.
